The coastal area of the Yucatan between Playa del Carmen and Tulum is an area with low-relief limestone crust with minimal soil cover and rapid infiltration of rain water which makes it impossible for rain to drain on the surface. Thus, no rivers or streams exist in the Yucatan peninsula. All water must drain or move underground creating a vast system of underground rivers and Cenotes (natural wells).
With the Cenote dive trip, you will experience diving in crystal clear fresh water (150ft visibility), admiring the stalactites and stalagmites formed over hundreds of thousands of years.
Because it is an "overhead environment" diving will be supervised by a one of our Cavern Instructor (certified Full Cave Diver). Divers need certification level of Open Water Diver or higher. No previous cavern experience is required.
